One last piece for today as I clean up my finds from my trip to Myrtle Beach.

I have a few pieces like this and I think they are tortoise. Just wanted to confirm. Thoughts?turtle4.thumb.jpg.8ab87eec8a1c60ab6f3a6b3aff04d4a2.jpgturtle2.thumb.jpg.2e15719fda48e69b2bad1a6cf42c614a.jpgturtle3.thumb.jpg.44fbba109a7ce253051385811845a173.jpg

The "marrow" is perpendicular to the surface. I'm used to seeing bone I pick up on the beach with the marrow running parallel to the surface. I'm fairly new to collecting bone so I'm no expert. I couldn't think of anything that might create that sandwich effect besides, perhaps, a carapace.

Maybe those other photos were too close. Here’s one at a distance. The marrow goes up and down, not back-and-forth. Can that happen in regular bone?

Very worn vertebra may be a possibility, as well.
