Hi I. New here.  I’ve been collecting for about 5 months in central Texas.  I found something that I’ve not come across before. It looks like something from a palm like plant but it could be an animal... it’s 3.4inches  long . Thank You.

Hello and a warm Welcome to TFF also from Austin, Tx.  You have found a Rastellum sp. bivalve a.k.a. "denture clam".  There are two species found in Texas.  If you could ID the county the specimen was found in, we could probably nail it down further to the likely species.

 

Again, welcome - and you might want to check out the local fossil club in Austin, the Paleo Society of Austin, if you haven't already.  This is a great group of folks who are very into fossils and, like TFF, warmly welcome new members.
