dalmayshun
I posted a short trip report, and included this vertebra which i can't id. It is almost perfect. I put it to a flame test because I thought perhaps it was recent, but no smell whatsoever. It is about 1"wide from wing to wing, and also about the same from the bottom to the tip of the top flange. I fell in love with it as I pulled it out of the chalky white clay from the bottom of the stream where I was screening for shark's teeth. Thanks for the help.
FossilsAnonymous
Probably fish, but it looks strangely similar to a dolphin vert. It seems small for a dolphin though On The Hunt For The Trophy Otodus!

NCSTer
Might be way off base, but it looks very similar to one I have which has been identified by others far more knowledgeable than me as Canis edwardii.
Harry Pristis
I'm sorry . . . vertebrae are difficult, with a few exceptions. This one is not an exception. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
