I think it’s sandstone. Thought it was an Indian artifact but I guess it isn’t. I’m guessing mineral erosion caused this???? Thanks for all information!

It looks like you have a neat looking rock, it’s very artsy. I’m not sure what you mean by “mineral erosion”, but to me this looks like a chunk of very fine grained limestone that has been gradually worn away by water. I assume on the back side that a piece has been broken off there?  It seems to show some fresher rock.

Limestone erosion looks to be right. Please post some general location information of where you found an item when you ask for an ID of something. A State, county or nearby city/town is helpful.

It was found in north central Ohio ( posted in the original listing) in a field. The piece on the bottom seems like it was either worn away or dug out. It’s like an indentation rather than a break.

That pushes me more towards it being an interestingly eroded hunk of limestone.
