GPS / Geologic Map for Garmin

For Christmas I was given a Garmin GPSMAP 64 device. I would like to load geologic maps on the device to help with my field work, but I can’t figure out how to convert files so they can be loaded. Does anybody know how to convert standard Geologic information files like mpk files to the format needed for Garmin devices? I can’t spend a lot of money on GIS software. Thanks!!
