The fossil addict in me would really appreciate IDs on the following from the thrift store down the block:

Mazon concretion, I thought it to be a crab at first glance but you tell me:

And then this, which I couldn't peg for a mineral or some kind of fossilized pollen..... Really don't know what to think. It's about 0.5" square.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks for taking a look.

The first one may contain some sort of organic remains but I cannot ascertain to what they belong.

The second specimen seems to be some sort of calcite growth.

Can you please show us the back side? I remove such calcite growths regularly from our electrically heated warm water tank. Color is a little bit different, but that does not mean much, if anything. But sure, such things can also be produced by mother nature.

I wasn't able to get a pic of backside, but losing hope on either as of right now. The backside was sort of shiny silvery white? Would have been cool if it were a fossil but it likely was not. Thanks for looking, people (:

The first one is probably an unidentifiable bit of plant material. Not enough detail showing for a positive ID.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
