I have been trying to look for an onchopristus numidus tooth to complete a collection of mine and I am unsure if these are genuine as it is from a website I am unsure about.

IMHO real, but partially restored (there's a missing part between tip and root which was badly restored with some kind of "plaster").

There are two shades of purpleish separated by purpleish filler.  I think the tip an the base are not from the same specimen.

I wouldn't call that restored. It's more likely a composite of 2 different teeth.

Otherwise both parts are real.

i would say composite as they wouldnt need that much filler if it were just broken

+1 for real, but restored

I'd like to correct my original comment. As others have pointed out, it is a composite, not restored. Restoration is the fixing of missing/broken parts. A composite is a combination of of two unrelated partial specimens to form a whole specimen. The onchopristis barb is a composite because the two sections likely did not come from the same specimen.

Agreed with composite tooth.

As you can clearly see two different sizes and colors from your picture.

Not even well constructed I may add! :shakehead:

Looks like a composite to me as well. Honestly, given how common these are (and how cheap they are to boot), definitely stay away or just other sellers, there are quite a fair few.
