Complete newbie- is this a fossil?

Hi all, 
I know absolutely nothing about fossils I’m afraid, but found this on a beach in Mexico and thought it looked like a tooth- does anyone know what it could be?

I'm not sure what it is, but I think you can scratch tooth off the list.

Could be a piece of coral probably modern if you found it on the beach but I could be wrong
