I'm not to sure if is the right part of the forum to be asking this but is anyone or would anyone know any experts/specialists that have a focus in Triassic Reptile/Amphibian Remains? Can even be a recomendation of an email address for a specific paleontologist I would be able to contact in regard to discussing a specimen directly and privately.

The OP could just do a private message with someone, being private and showing the photos.

If no one replies directly here, then why don't you just do some googling to find someone you could contact? I know there are quite a few out there, but I don't want to mention any names since I don't know them personally.

I'm in doubt that you will get a big echo here, cause an online forum usually is the direct opposite of what you are looking for, especially if nothing is said about the circumstances.

My main focus is on early triassic reptiles and amphibians but i lean towards being informed about what is the purpose before i'm going into details...

Sometimes if you don’t have the proper guidance searching online can be tedious. Pointing someone in the right direction with a contact is always a huge plus. I don’t have a contact for you, but hopefully somebody else does. Best of luck with it.

@Ludwigia Yeah that's the plan but I'd thought it would be a good start to see if anyone would have a recommendation, cause there are some I tried but could not be reached unfortunately so maybe here there could be a better chance if someone knows someone personally if I'm lucky.

@Pemphix I figured one of the best online forums for fossils would be a good place to start at least for a possible recommendations to talk about a fossil, but I could be wrong...

I think the point being made was than an online forum is in its nature public. You may have someone contact you, or be more willing to give contact info for a researcher, if they know exactly what kind of fossils you have. If you have something rare and exciting, someone is bound to be interested, but that’s impossible to know if you won’t share what you’ve found. But please note that I’m not trying to shame you or anything, it’s certainly your right, and there are no hard feelings, if you don’t want to post your finds on an open forum. You just might not generate the interest you’re looking for.

It’s possible to share photos and information on the forum and still be discrete. You could take pictures of closeups of the find, showing only the specimen and little of the surroundings. Then give a very generalized location, or just age of formation. That may be just enough to pique someone’s interest. More specific details could then be given via private communications.

We have many people that stop by the forum who think they have something rare and exciting and actually don’t. I’m not saying you do or don’t, just pointing out that it makes everyone a little cautious.

This is all on the assumption that you found something. If you have a purchased item or are thinking about purchasing it, I see little need for the secrecy.

I'm a professional who does some work with Triassic vertebrates. I'm happy to discuss this in PMs and, if I can't help directly, direct you to colleagues who can. However, I will provide the caveat that I do not provide appraisals.
