Carboniferous Fauna

In the years of fossil hunting some fossils caught me by surprise especially the ones out of rough pieces that had no resemblance to nodules . These are some of my less common finds myriapods, arachnids, arthropleura tergite, shrimp carpace and the nymph idoptilus sp.

I also found fish scales and flora though not as abundant as Mazon creek .

Great finds. Don't you just love it when they bury a great fossil site? :default_faint:

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Another set of great fossils- the sandy/buff color of the matrix and fossils is so different from Mazon Creek and the other similar Pennsylvanian fossils I find in Illinois. I like it!

Could you label what each specimen is, roughly? I think I have a good idea on most of them, but a few are unfamiliar. Thanks again for sharing your collection, will you be doing a post with those fish scales and flora too?

1/ Trignotarbid Anthracasiro

2/ Anthacassiro Fitschii

3/Crustacea (only rough id ) Myriapod similar to Eileticus

4/Arthropleura tergite

5/ Shrimp carapace possible Tealliocaris

6/ scorpion

7 millipede

8/ Myriapod

9/ Nymph Idoptilus sp

I'm open to better ids as these were uncommon finds for me.

Posting the fish scale would be easy but the flora i wouldn't know where to begin and the Mazon creek ones are better.
