Snake or Turtle head?

Recommended Posts

I can't figure out. how to use your site!  I have a fossilized head that I think is snake or turtle.

It measures ap. 1 1/2" long, 1" wide & 1/2" high.  If you or anyone could help me figure out what it is, I would really appreciate it.

I got the head about 1995 at an auction In Southern California.

Thank you.

Sorry, but it isn't either one actually, but it did belong in a head at one time. That appears to be a very worn & weathered tooth, possibly from a horse.

I think horse too.

The 'eyes and mouth' are where the roots have broken off or weathered away.

If you could add a photo from the top of the tooth (the side which should have a complex squiggly pattern on it) then we could be more certain what animal this tooth once belonged to.

Cheers.
