Beauty Brachiopods NJ Cretaceous

While on my way fishing today, I stumbled upon a creek that looked shelly, pulled over and lo and behold found these two little sweet treats! They are fully intact with both sides connected. I believe they are Choristothyris plicata  @The Jersey Devil

Nice!

Yep. That's what you have. Looks like you found the Navesink Formation in which those little guys are common. You probably saw a number of Exogyra (oyster shells) and belemnite guards too.

@Jeffrey P Yes for sure. The real thrill was discovering a new brook to explore. I only spent 15 minutes there. Was a nice surprise!

Nice finds. Some of us wouldn't mind a fishing report as well.

Any freshwater in the creeks, or just salt? I don't get much exposure to salt in the Chicago area, but I've done salt twice from shore. Once in Long Beach, CA and once in Nassau, Bahamas -- both times from shore. Corbina in CA and barracuda in the Bahamas, nothing over 3 pounds.
