I think this is a common fossil, but I'm not certain what it is?

Hello, I found this fossil in Northamptonshire, UK. I'm not certain what it is, my best guess would be a belemnite. Sorry for the bad quality.

Thanks.

Can belemnites have that much of a curve?

I thought that was quite interesting as well. It does look more like a belemnite than anything else but I think some more prep and better pictures would be needed.

Ah, I didn't notice that. Should I get a better photo?

crinoid stem may be (diameter seems constant)

I don’t think so because the top doesn’t resemble one and is one piece.

Some better photos of the top end of the specimen would help.

I'll see if I can get enough light to do it. :)

I looks like two belemnites.

Is there anything I should do to clean it up a little?

You could try to remove the matrix from the the top of the belemnites.

Okay, I'll be sure to get that done tomorrow. :)

I decided to scrape off some matrix, and after a good scrub, noticed lots of shells on the underside. I can confirm that the possible belemnite is one whole bit.

Sorry for the photo spam. I also just noticed this 'thing' here.

Also, sorry to be annoying, but upon soaking the rock, I think I could hear the trapped air 'fizzing', is there a name for this?
