Member of the Month - April 2020 - Minnbuckeye

So much has changed in the last month in ways that ripple across the planet and impact just about everyone on it. Amidst so much fear and uncertainty, there is also hope and ingenuity, community-mindedness, and care. The unthinkable becomes the solidly real as our lives are caught up in the eddies and swirls of it all. Still, the cessation of the daily hustle bustle has meant clearer waters and clearer skies, for which birdsong is all the more sweeter for it. So for now let us enjoy each other's virtual company and shine the monthly spotlight on our newest member of the month.

By unanimous staff decision, this month's crown goes to:

It is a rare occasion that I get to present this award to someone who lives more north than I do! A lover and expert on animals alive and long fossilized, Mike has been with us since 2013, delighting us with his trips to enviable Ordovician spots (when they are snow-free up there in Minnesota!), with forays here and there. Mike is a nature lover for sure, and only he can tell you his fascination with buckeyes. Mike is always a kind and helpful voice around here, and has been for so long that it was completely an oversight on our part in delaying an award he would have won many times over by this time.

Congratulations Mike! Wear this Crown with pride, as you have earned it!

On behalf of the staff here on TFF, congratulations!

Please tell us your story - how you came to fossils, and how you came to TFF!

Congratulations, Mike!

We all seem to have more time on our hands lately so why not indulge us on your fossil backstory and how you found us a short (geologically speaking) 7 years ago?

Cheers.
