fossilcrazy Posted April 4, 2020 Share Posted April 4, 2020 Hi Matthew, Looks like Igneous rock. Probably Rhyolite (white) with Garnet crystals (red). Looking where you live the bedrock is Shale. That would mean you have an erratic rock brought down from the Canadian shield by glaciers. FranzBernhard Posted April 4, 2020 Share Posted April 4, 2020 Im my opinion, this is a fine-grained gneiss (metamorphic rock) or an aplite (igneous rock) with many garnets. I don´t know how near you are to the Adirondacks, this rock could also be from there. But the Canadian shield and glacier transport is also a possibility.
