I found a tooth in Bladen County, NC at a site on the Cape Fear River near Elizabethtown. The site is Upper Cretaceous, and is Upper Campanian in age. It's in the Black Creek Group. I know that the tooth isn't in the best of shape, but hopefully is identifiable. All the Mosasaur teeth I had collected there before are a black color. I noticed this tooth is also curved from side to side. I don't know if it's a Plesiosaur or Mosasaur tooth. Both have been found at this site, but the Plesiosaur is far less common.

Yeah,  I dont see a cavity at all,  looks like a break. If you say its an oval then its an oval. You can see it better than anyone.

Yes I have to been Phoebus Landing  several times  I have a fair amount of specimens from there. I have a hadrosaur metatarsal which has been identified by Gene Hartstein and others. I have been collecting heavily in the last 20 years and the buckets and baggies haven't been gone through since I found the material! I'm organizing and high grading so there will be lots of posts. Well it's time to do it and see what I got. What else is there to do that's fun for a fossil hunter in isolation? Lol

I am rather confident it is not plesiosaur. The pic os the "base" does look like a break in the photo to me. But, it gives the tooth more of a mosasaur look.
