caldigger
The stylid on that left tooth appears to be detached so I'm thinking bison.

Harry Pristis
The curvature of the jaw line makes me think "cow." Bison mandibles tends to be less curved. Also the whole stylid thing, which many refer to, seems so subjective to me. Any thoughts in general on using stylids to distinguish between 'cow' vs. bison? Harry Pristis
Early on, I thought the form of the isolated stylid was important. Now, the form has less significance for me than size of the tooth and, of course, the context of the find. In Florida, it usually is not a big challenge to distinguish between cow and bison. 2 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
