kostermann4
The location of this is unknown but I'm working on it. It was given to me by a friend who either found it at Palo Duro Canyon, TX or in Colorado. Another possibility is that it is from her ex mother'-in-law's rock collection which would be from Montana or Nevada. Sorry for the vague location! I'm trying to get more accurate information but wanted to see if it's even something interesting and worth spending the time to track down the location with a possible call to an ex mother-in-law. Thank you for your time and input as I have zero knowledge of fossils.
Ludwigia
Petrified wood maybe? 4 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
JohnJ
Could be palmwood. Try taking sharper photos in better light. Maybe dampen the piece to bring out more details. 5 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
Fossildude19
Cropped, enlarged, contrasted, and brightened: Palmwood sounds reasonable. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Ludwigia
I was also thinking palmwood, particularly now that Tim has brightened things up for us. Maybe you could find someone to cut and polish this for you? 2 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
grandpa
I agree, this is a nice piece of petrified palm wood, suitable for lapidary uses and jewelry making if there is any interest in that. Of more importance, WELCOME to TFF from down the road in Austin. I think you will find this a fun site - AND - no need to call ex-MIL.
Tidgy's Dad
Yes, it would probably look rather nice cut and polished. Hello, and a very warm welcome to TFF from Morocco. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
