Can I see your displays using risers?

Hey everyone! As the title says, I’d really love to see your displays where risers are used. The cabinet I use to display my fish is getting a bit crowded but has a lot of space to utilize vertically. I know I want risers, but I’m not sure what direction I want to go in just yet. So, give me some inspiration! Here is a photo of my cabinet (the doors/windows are open to show just how much unused space I have).

Sorry for the blurry picture, my iPad isn’t good at photography.

Hi, Candace, nice display, it's good to see you increasing fish collection and bottles again. :)

Can't help, but hope you're keeping well.

Stay safe,

Thank you, Adam! It feels good to increase my collection! I had taken a little time off from fossils but now I have all the time in the world. :default_rofl: We’re doing well here and I hope you and your family are too. Give Tidgy a snuggle for me!

The clear risers you show are often used to show glass paperweights above others in front. Perhaps online or Micheal's Crafts or Hobby Lobby.

We're good. Tidgy is asleep after a walk out in the sun this afternoon. I'll snuggle her later. :)

Very nice cabinet and fossils, but there is not really much space left vertically. Personally, I don´t like it very much having specimens near the "ceiling"; you can not see the specimens very good there. I would suggest experimenting with some cut cardboard rolls etc. first. Just to check out how it works out aesthetically.

Hey Candace,

I was actually looking into getting some risers myself.

These were the ones I was looking at:

There is more space in the middle and bottom sections than it appears. I don’t necessarily need them to go to the ceiling but definitely a little higher so I can put smaller plates in the front. I’ve done a little experimenting with small wooden blocks and it seems to work well.

I really like those. It reminds me of the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. I’m thinking of getting a set to use somewhere else.

Same here. They are great in combination with glass shelves for letting through light.

Do you have any photos of your displays using them? I’m trying to see actual displays from everyone where risers are being used.

I've seen the clear acrylic used in combination with glass instead of wooden shelves. It should eliminate shadows if each level has its own light source.

I like the clear acrylic risers.  They maximize space which is my biggest issue and they let light through in my many glass display cases.

@Troodon I love that display. I’m leaning towards the acrylics based on recommendations above and your photos. Thank you for sharing your display!

Amazing display, @Troodon Can you take a close-up picture of one of your labels? What information do you have listed below species name?

I just had posted this on a previous topic but the label is typical throughout my collection.   The lower right number is my reference number filed on an excel worksheet
