Appears to be boxwork or mineral veins.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

I'm not seeing anything that says "fossil" either.

BUT, more importantly, Welcome to TFF from Austin, Tx.  You've found the right place to bring such inquiries.  And, if you are interested in fossils (and it appears that you are), you have also found a welcoming and supportive group to help you pursue such interests.  Again, Welcome!

Thanks y'all...the feed back on here actually helped me to figure out it is what is called a Septarian concretions ...I guess it's a common denominator in alot of my geological research but I do also have a good collection of fossils going and many to be delved into...this forum is very helpful...thanks to all

  • 1 year later...

Seems that you have a combination of two phenomena here. The first is a ripple bed is a shallow sea; the second are trace fossils (tunnels of bottom living creatures) that were created later (when the ripples were already covered) in the perpendicular direction.

I think @Mark Kmiecik got it right first time. Differential erosion gives the impression of ripples.
