This was found in a rock quarry just outside Austin. I took the picture before I joined this forum so I didn't place a ruler next to it. It is on a Limestone rock, 15" long, 7" high and about 8" thick. I can see from the edge of the rock there is probably another layer of matter inside the rock. Thanks for looking at it and any help you can provide.

Very nice piece, somebody who knows your local geology (possibly Cretaceous-more than 66 million years old) will chime in with some good info shortly I'm sure.

I also found similar aquatic plant in Austin Chalk layer at local creek.    Sea grass perhaps?

Coral maybe?

Got a ruler ? :)

I'd have less problem ruling that out, but we'll see what others say.
