Mukah Resinite (Amber In The Coal/lignite)

Recommended Posts

Iskandar

I found something unusual in Mukah beach yesterday. Found some lignite deposit along the seaside and I discovered a few very small amber inside the coal/lignite or what the geologist called is 'resinite'. The coal in Mukah here is dated around Neogene /don't sure the exact age. Here they are... hope someday found the larger solid amber next time...

A Little of Everything

Exactly the matrix where I find my amber/resinite pieces! I know this reply is delayed by over ten years but if you happen to see it someday I hope it helps you find a bigger piece! Go back to the site after dark and take a black light with you! Amber glows green under ultraviolet light and you’ll be surprised at how much of it you miss looking during the day!
