Hit The Deck
I found a tooth on beach at Bolivar Peninsula this weekend. Google Can't quite help me put my finger on an ID. Nice little guy though, kinda figured it would be in worse shape getting beat up by the surf and what not. Any ideas and if so what are the clues? the root configuration, the biting surface or the overall shape?

Harry Pristis
It's a bovid upper premolar (P4), probably from a cow. 2 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
Hit The Deck
Thanks, that makes sense but not very exciting. I talked myself into this being a fossil not just a modern cow. Is there a way to tell if it is fossilized and not just stained from our fine Texas Gumbo?
