Dinosaurs eggs

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I'm here cause I've found this fossil in a vintage store before this pandemic..the owner of the store claims to have acquired it from a prestigious auction house.. and I would love to understand if it's real or fake.. he doesn't have so much information besides the dimensions of it.. 11cm H x 15cm W x 13cm D

I would love to identify it! Thank you in advance and stay safe!

Thanks

Looks like maybe 30 to 40% is real. The rest looks like typical restore job.

It's supposed to be a hadrosaur egg (Dendroolithus sp.) but it looks to be a poor resto job. Could be as bad as to be an entirely faked egg with a small portion (bottom left) having real shells stuck on.

Avoid it.

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

Agree with everyone.  Its a poor example of a Hadrosaur egg from China.

A prestigious auction house would avoid having anything to do with this poorly composited fake, and would have no problem not getting the five dollar commission they would have made from its sale.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
