JSamana
My first attempt here. I'm having a great time exploring the Mogollon Rim area near our home here in Arizona. The Kohl's Ranch area near Payson is famous for its Carboniferous brachiopods, but I have a piece that has obvious bryozoans. But in this photo there are two pieces that are "fern" shape. The longer of the two is about 1/2 inch long. They have me stumpred.
Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. I would guess it's a bryozoan of some type. @DPS Ammonite 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." DPS Ammonite
They are some type of broken fenestrate bryozoan. Sadly no good work has been done on the Naco bryozoa. A graduate NAU student started to study them but did not finish. See my Arizona Paleontology Guide: 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. JSamana
Thanks. We're in Pine. A geographer by trade. Grew up near the famous site outside Toledo, OH.. Never got it out of my blood. I love the rime Kaibab and still trying to find spots in the Naco. All the best, "Jamie, Fossil Lady"
