Zeezee
Hello everyone. I found this sticking out of a mudflat on the River Humber Estuary, UK. It seems to be a fossilised bone of something but I could be wrong. I gave it a wash and the water ran through one hole at the side and came out of the hole at the other side. Just wondered if anyone had an inkling what it could be? Thank you
grandpa
First, a warm welcome to TFF from Austin, Tx. Regarding your specimen, I believe what you have there is a suggestively shaped chert nodule. Good eye for the shape, but the micro-structure is wrong for bone which would appear more porous/grainy.

Zeezee
Do you think this could be chert, too?
grandpa
Actually, that could be a tooth. Could you take a picture looking straight down on what would be the chewing surface - the black end of the specimen.

grandpa
Thanks for the additional photos, ZeeZee. After seeing these, I'm afraid I have to agree with @Fossildude19; it looks like another chert nodule.
