Rock or fossil

Hello

found this in Big Brook this weekend.  The top makes me hopeful that it’s not a rock. Sorry that I only have an old iphoneiPhone

Welcome to the forum!

It looks like a bone to me but I can't say much more as I am not too familiar with fossils from that location and age.

@The Jersey Devil is more familiar with these fossils and may be able to help.

More photos would also be helpful with better focus, the other tip may also hold clues as to what this bone is from.

It's not a claw. A claw with no curvature would be useless for climbing, holding prey or traction.

This looks like a modern hoof core, to me.

Yeah looks like a match. I wonder how a Pleistocene one would look like

thank you all.

i had never even heard of a hoof core before but looking it up i see it's clearly a deer hoof core

disappointed it's not a fossil but grateful for your help

will try again on saturday!

could be a Pleistocene fossil. Plenty of Pleistocene fossils have been found in big Brook.
