Another Wyoming dig

Last years dig season. Fossil was found lying on the ground, no digging. I was saying to myself is that what I think it is, not used to seeing or finding toe bones this large. Measures 17 inches in length. It was in three pieces which fit back together quite nicely. This was in the Lance formation and is complete.

Agreed, metatarsal III and it could only be from one thing at that size. Congrats on a killer find!

Yes... yes on it being a rex an yes on cool find.   One does not simply find things like this every day.  Any chance there is more of the animal there?

I did search the area but could not find anything more. I won’t be back on that ranch for a couple of years but it will be the first place I go to when I return
