MusicnFossils’ Living Room

Hello all,

I was waiting a while to show my ever growing collection until I finally got this new shelf. I wanted to paint it to look similar to my other shelf, install these neat colour changing lights, organize things and move everything...then take photos! I had stored everything in my bedroom for a while but now everything is front & center for visitors.

As has has been made obvious by my many ID posts and couple threads in the, “fossil hunting trips” section, I live in a fossil rich area have access to much land to collect from frequently, so I will use this thread for updates with future finds. I’m very proud to say that much of my collection, mostly the dinosaur stuff, has been found by me rather than been bought, though there is a lot of money invested here.

If you would like more or better pictures, info or would like to help me ID anything in this collection that I’m unsure about (I’m severely lacking in physical labels at the moment) don’t hesitate to ask.

The blue light is funny, but overall a nice 'museum'. If I could declutter some I'd like to do something similar. Never enough drawers and glass display cases...

Thank you!

They change to whatever colour I want them to. I had them on colour rotation in the photos and those happened to be the colours they were on when I took the pics. In the closer pictures the white light was on, the paint is a blueish-grey that looks more grey in person so that’s the reason for the blue look in those photos.

Oh I see... I haven't come across the color changing type.

I do have one old display case that I fitted with LEDs but they're plain white (which was all I needed) but the changing colors seems entertaining :P

Awesome collection and great display, thanks for sharing

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

Great collection. What is the claw to the left of the rex tooth?

Unfortunately it’s not a claw, it’s a siroccopteryx tooth. At least according to the seller, it’s not actually my fossil. That one belongs to my friend and he keeps it in my display.

Super cool find today, my buddy and I were exploring some new land and we found a claw! I think it’s ornithomimus. Gotta clean it off yet. It fell down a fairly steep hill so unfortunately it broke. I’ll update later with more pics.

Wonderful collection and display.

Also want to update on that claw we found earlier. Found an extra piece of it so I have most of the base but the tip is still missing. Is in decent condition actually but it’s sunbleached on one side. Fairly good size, slightly over three inches.

Nice claw. Hopefully the tips in the same area and you can find it at a later date.

Yeah hopefully we can find it but we searched that area like crazy & couldn’t find it so it might be gone or re-buried by now.

  • 1 month later...

Thought I’d update this thread with some new stuff, as well as some pictures of a few of the fossils in the field during a trip this weekend;

Whats the row of verts from?

Great finds

Thank you! I’m not entirely sure. They were all found closely together but not directly together, a couple of them are shaped differently than the others so a few are probably not from the same animal. I just string them together because it’s cool to tell visitors I have a “dinosaur tail”. So far in that same 40 foot square ish area I have found fossils from tyrannosaurids, Hadrosaurids, crocs, ornithomimids, and possibly ceratopsians. As troodon pointed out to me in PMs it’s possibly a channel deposit. I should probably take ID photos of each one and see if someone more knowledgeable can help me out, I’ve got loads of new stuff that needs an ID but I haven’t gotten around to that yet.
