Creek - Don
I was driving north on Interstate 35 near Waxahachie, Texas this afternoon. Saw pile of rock debris that were up 60 feet high near the Interstate 35 service road. I couldn't resist passing by, so I parked near the service road and walked around the debris for any fossils. Well, most of the fossils I found are small to large Inceramous clams. Not too much spectacular, but the clam attached to the matrix were near complete. Some of these clams have pyrite rust stains on them. Formation is Austin Chalk (upper Cretaceous).
Heteromorph
Some lovely ichnofossils and inoceramids. The location and look makes me think it is Santonian in age. Great post!
Wrangellian
Other than the light chalk, it reminds me of a number of sites arounds here which are mainly Santonian also... Sometimes Inoceramus is the main (or only) think you see. That closeup shot with the trace fossils is interesting... We get pitting in our Ino's too, from whatever it is that bores into the shell, but that looks different.
