I found this fossil in Englewood, Flordia, on the beach along with some fossilized shark teeth. I think it’s a Dugong rib bone fragment.

Hi,

Don't make several posts with the same fossil, it is useless. The specialists will arrive, just wait a little. Measures would also be helpful.

I’m sorry. I’m new to this forum. I didn’t realize I’d made the same post twice.

This rib bone fragment was found on a Florida beach in Englewood. I believe it belongs to a Dugong, but it’s not solid black like most online examples. It’s roughly 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Can anyone help affirm my theory or provide evidence to the contrary? Thank you.

I don't think you will get a better ID than indeterminate mammal rib.
