Teresa Cooper
While digging holes for sage bushes at my mother's house in Granbury, we found this. Both pieces appear to fit together. Is it a fossil? If so, of what? Should we dig some more? Or am I totally wrong? I have additional photos. Thank you. Ludwigia
No it's not a fossil, but don't worry, you're not crazy 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Creek - Don
I agree. Don't look like a fossil. Looks like couple of limestone rocks there were eroded by water.

I have found many shell fossils in her yard and lots of just plain old rocks, but this one is different. Thanks for all the input.

Fossildude19
You should be able to add photos in a reply. There is a size limit. 3.95 MB per post. Also, sometimes the Forum will say it can't upload anymore. If that happens, you just need to refresh your internet browser. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Teresa Cooper
The curve of the thinner rock, the cap, matches the curve of the larger rock. There are several circular indentions on the cap that coincide with dark spots on the larger piece. My mom's house is in an area well known for marine fossils and she lives about 30 miles from the dinosaur tracks in the Paluxy River. Texas was once a shallow sea. Photo 1 is the underside of the cap. Photo 2 is the top of the cap.
Teresa Cooper
These 2 photos show how the pieces line up on both sides. I have more photos if you want them. Thanks for your time.
