ID please to help a complete novice!

Hello, I wonder if anyone could help me with this please? If I remember correctly I found it on the beach at Charmouth Dorset. Looks to me like some kind of fossilised plant/seaweed? The photos are all of the same stone. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Looks like this is a piece of a fossil ammonite. The lines are called suture lines where the chambers of the ammonite connected. These went extinct the same time as the dinosaurs.

Yes, ammonite suture lines. Google it and check out the images. Some are beyond impressive.
