brachiopod ID

Gen. et sp. indet.

Recommended Posts

I found this beauty yesterday in a gravel in central Poland, so it's an ice age gift from Baltic Sea or Scandinavia, Ordovician or Silurian in age. Any ideas? I'm thinking... maybe a billingsellid of some sort? I'm not good at Palaeozoic brachiopods.

It looks like a Terebratulid.  Unfortunately, I can't help with further ID.

I don't know, either.

It actually looks more like a bivalve in some photos.

Can you clear off some of the matrix around the umbos / beaks?

That might help.

Thank you all. Guess it gonna be labeled 'brach or valve' - for now ;-)

I'll try to prepare it a bit, though...
