Marine animal tooth?

I just joined this group. I found this today in the surf of Holden Beach, NC. Just hoping someone can identify it for me

Hi, it's a piece of bone. I don't think it's from a Megalodon.

Try to burn it with a flame, if it smells, it's a modern bone.

Looks like part of a fish skull. Try the flame test.

Thanks. I tried the flame test and got no smell from it. Maybe I’ll try a better picture.

mosasaur vert?  Whatever it is, it is...

1)  not a tooth

2)  very waterworn.  Likely beyond identifyable.

Holden Beach renourishment has a lot of late Maastrichtian Peedee in it so I agree with probable Mosasaur vert. Trust you also got some of those nice Hardouinea mortonis echinoids?

Did you ever consider hoof core, maybe horse.  Your fossil seems to have that type of consistency and shape.

Something like this would be possible but most of the sediment being pumped on the beach is Cretaceous and his bone has a general mosasaur vert shape to it.
