Welcome to the Forum, Nathan. :)

This appears to be an oddly weathered piece of limestone, unfortunately,

and not a fossil.

Keep looking though. :)

That one is a fossil! :)

It looks like a piece of an ammonite.

Unfortunately, I have little knowledge of Texas ammonites.

ooohh.. what a great chunk of ammonite! I'd say Mortoniceras or Texanites. I'm leaning more toward Texanites with those strong tuburcules. Did you actually find it in Houston? It must have been trucked in with some limestone.

I found a bunch on my back yard. When we got the house it came with a bunch of fossils. I also like going to state sales and buying them.

I was given this one by a person who knows I collect fossils for free.

Ahhh...sounds like a fossil hunter lived there before you!

Maybe the first specimen in question is a junction of Thalassinoides burrows, in weathered condition. :headscratch:

Yes! There's huge geodes in my backyard as well. The last picture I posted. The ammonite has leaf like impressions on it. Is that how they looked back then?

Although they look like plants those are suture lines. That is an awesome ammonite. Congrats!
