what kind of clam is this

Hi everyone this is Matt again. 

can anyone tell me what kind of clam this is?

looks like a brachiopod to me, maybe Orthotetes sp.

It takes a little thought to translate the internal features to the more external shown in the post, but it does seem like you can get there from here.

I'd want to know an age, even an Era, to start with before hazarding any guesses.  But, yes, it does look more like a brachiopod to me also.

Brachiopod seems a better match, but it is difficult to tell from this internal mold. 

I believe Matt is creek hunting in Middle Devonian outcrops.

Matthew Textor, If you are hunting near home, that puts you square in Upper Devonian deposits. I'm thinking you have a cast of a Rhynchonellid Brachiopod, probably Paurorhynchia newberryi.

I think it's a productid, but brachiopod for sure.
