Hi everyone,

I have here a 5.64" Megalodon tooth that I purchased. I don't have any reason to believe it's fake, but I got a decent deal on it and just want to make sure it's genuine. It was found off the coast of North Carolina.

Nothing fake or altered (except by Nature), it's a nice, big, ocean-collected tooth. The taupe colored enamel and the rust colored spots are typical of several NC coast teeth i have seen.

It looks typical of those that are recovered by scuba diving in the ocean. It has heavy wear and has bore holes. It appears to have been cleaned and consolidated/coated. Definitely a BIG BOY. Congrats.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Don't think anybody would fake one like this. Looks like your typical offshore NC tooth.
