Recommended Posts

Location Missouri

Found in limestone that was blasted out by construction workers

The area is Pennsylvanian on the geological map

I have also found prehistoric fish teeth in the area along with Brachiopods, Crinoids, and horn corals.

That is an interesting one- would you be able to take a closer picture of the edge of it? And what does the other side look like? It could be some kind of pavement-like crusher tooth, similar to Psammodus, but I'm not quite sure that the texture is right. Perhaps @jdp or @Archie might recognize this?

It looks similar to fin/spines that I find in Pennsylvanian shale only way larger. Cool find!

Very interesting find! My first thought was some sort of Psammodontid as well.

thanks for the response! I honestly thought it was some sort of invertebrate or coral at first! I took some pictures of the other side, sorry  I originally did not post them as I thought the side was not of importance due to it being from a Concretion/Nodule20200716_010904.jpg.77a92c6efa622d2580df5ca88bd1c0fe.jpgthis one is the right half of the concretion turned over. As of the moment I am not able to get the most clear pictures due to my phones incapability to take good pictures at night!, but here are more of them

Once again I am very sorry for the poor quality of the images, the lighting in my house is sub par to natural daylight, I will post more clearer pictures in daylight!

also if u need anymore pictures please tell me what you need!

I think you are correct! Is it possible to determine which species or What body part this cartilage is from?

My guess would be from the order Eugeneodontida considering I found a few teeth from these specimen in the area

There's not enough information here to speculate, honestly.
