Samurai
Location Missouri Found in limestone that was blasted out by construction workers The area is Pennsylvanian on the geological map I have also found prehistoric fish teeth in the area along with Brachiopods, Crinoids, nautiloids and horn corals. I was not a 100% if this was a fossil or just a natural formation in limestone. I only say it could be a Pennsylvanian shark crusher plate but I am not 100% sure Sorry for not having a good size reference, I have very little measuring tools, and did not bring it to the site I found it in, there will be a ruler measurement of the hammer below I was not sure if it was biological in origin but the ridge makes me question, and those could be possible pores at the bottom? In all honesty I do not want to make assumptions XD
Ludwigia
Looks fishy to me. It shouldn't be difficult to remove it from the matrix to get a better look at it from all sides. 2 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Fossildude19
@jdp @Archie Looks like a tooth to me. I would make sure to put a piece of duct tape over it (to keep it all together, in case it breaks) and make sure to work as far away from the actual tooth as possible. Ideally, you would get the tooth out still on a piece of matrix. 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." jpc
Duct tape is a good isdea, but I would prefer see through tape so you can see what it is doing. It could be a challnge to remove without breaking it.

I did get it out of the limestone fully intact, with some of the matrix, but unfortunately it broke apart when I arrived at my home and I cannot find the other pieces and plan to look on the floor and in my car! Thanks for all the advice! I wish I read the reply's this morning! Tape would have been an excellent idea! I will use that for next time Edited July 16, 2020 by Samurai

Archie
Nice find hope you get all the bits. Its good to take some containers to put fragile stuff in to save them getting crushed or losing bits in transit.
