Spooky24
Is this fossil from the Calvert Cliffs a ray barb fragment, or something else entirely? It measures 1/3 of an inch as far as it's size goes. Thanks for any suggestions regarding it's identity. Edited July 24, 2020 by Spooky24
Darktooth
It is part of a ray tooth. 4 I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
grandpa
It is ,I do believe, from a ray. In this case it is a ray tooth, part of the crushing teeth plate of a stingray. I see @Darktooth was one "click" ahead of me in replying.

Thank you both for helping me identify it.
ShoreThing
It's part of a ray plate (their 'teeth' that they use to crush their food). A barb is the 'stinger' that is found inside their tails. Happy hunting! These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
