Brazil Mystery Fossil -verts?

Hello all.  Any insight on this unidentified fossil, originally from Brazil (old collection).   I'm presuming the Santana Formation, given that the matrix looks so similar to some insect specimens I've seen.  It appears to be a string of small vertebra --- but beyond that, I have no clue what the heck I might be looking at.  Please see images, which includes extreme close-ups.

[P.S., this is the 1st of 5 specimens that I'm posting for ID today; I deeply appreciate any insight that you can provide].  With gratitude,  Ryan

It looks like part of an ammonite to me, but I'm no expert so wait for others to chime in.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

I agree it does look like a string of vertebrae and the matrix is typical of others Ive seen from the Santana Fm.  Unfortunately the preservation is pretty poor hard to discern any diagnostic features. Nice plate.

The suture marks, I think I see, reminds me of ammonites.

I think this is bone material.

I believe the Santana Group was a lacustrine envrionment - no ammonites found there.
