This fossil was found by an old friend of mine in maine, and I need some help with the ID on it. All i know is that it is from maine and that it is a brachiopod (the largest fossil present)

This will be hard to narrow down without knowing the age of the formation it came from. To me it looks like a spirifer of some sort; but thats hard to tell with just the outside of the shell visible.

Any idea where in Maine it came from?

My first impression is that it is an Acrospirifer sp.,  possibly Acrospirifer atlanticus.

I’m not too sure where it came from, my grandfather found it a while back and he is in no condition to tell me where it’s from haha

Interesting, I didn't know Maine had such fossils.

As for the ID, I agree that this looks like a spiriferid brachiopod, but it is hard to say more than that.
