Hi,

this might be the wrong thread, correct me if I’m wrong, but I was wondering if anyone has a guess to if it’s a fossil.

Could be.  Have you tried the flame test?

I don’t own it, it’s for auction on online, and I’m considering bidding on it, But I wanted to get everyone’s opinion, the seller seems reputable.

Always difficult to say when it is a species like deer which are still extant in the area. When you have a meg tooth or mammoth or giant ground sloth fossil you can well be sure that it is fossil and not recent.

When you find an item on your own you have it in hand and can do things like the flame test to see if it produces the "hair burning" smell indicating collagen protein in the piece (an indication that it is not fully mineralized). When you are purchasing a fossil you have only the description, the reputation of the seller and (hopefully) a return guarantee if you don't find it to your liking.

Cheers.
