Vertebra found in Savannah (shark tooth island)

I found this on shark tooth island in Savannah Georgia any idea as to what mammal it could belong to?

it i a pretty find.  but could you post more pictures to show both sides of the vertebral body and its size.

Hmm .. Does it feel light .. ?  It doesn't look typical for fossils from that area. ie. the preservation and 'look' is modern. And there are deer and other animals in and around the area (and on the islands). Maybe our mammal experts will pipe up.

It kind of has some weight to it. 

Generally .. on the river the fossils are jet black. That is, if you are finding them on the 'beaches' of the river. The flame test might be next. An open flame on the least interesting part of the bone. If you smell a stench ... then it is most likely modern. I find at times deer bones phalanges/astragalus/hoof cores etc ...
