ElizabethCab 0 Posted August 7, 2020 Fossil was found back yard. Approximately 3 miles from the Guadalupe river. The top of the skull, teeth, and what I believe to be part of the spinal column is rock. The rest of the fossil is encased in lime stone. Which I have slowly been scrapping away. Any information regard this fossils would be greatly appreciated.
daves64 751 Posted August 7, 2020 Instead of teeth, I'm seeing what appears to be scallop shell.

fossilus 223 Posted August 7, 2020 I believe that generally along the Guadalupe river you find Cretaceous marine limestone. Most likely you'll marine shells, clams marine snails and maybe ammonites or ecinoids. Very unlikely to find bones, they don't really preserve well in these open marine environments. JohnJ 4,579 Posted August 7, 2020 What you may think are teeth in the first photo is a partially exposed species of Neithea fossil scallop. The other items are likely more fossil shells exposed in cross section.
