I recently discovered this tiny fossil on a piece of shale from a site in Brookfield, NY that I visited with the NYPS last month. I believe this site is Upper Ludlowville Formation, based on the species I found there. I was wondering if this could possibly be a piece of placoderm armor? I dont recognize the detail on it so I’m having some trouble ID’ing it. BA2528DC-BDF3-4EF2-A8D2-F5249E370EA9.thumb.jpeg.69619f9b605cd3ef5bb2adc65e5600c0.jpegE3AEBABC-24F7-4A10-99FC-50FBC02A4D33.thumb.jpeg.cda4f535793ec6909566a69a138337ad.jpegCCB37046-C866-4CDC-90E2-744F68BBBD6E.thumb.jpeg.7ed157212a4cf1eaa508a883ff7cd212.jpeg6563729B-CC0E-44FF-B766-20E4ECC12207.thumb.jpeg.b6cbfc0ce1d40495f1f6b6c57c0ace9c.jpeg

I recently found this small mystery object on a piece of shale from when I went on the field trip with the NYPS. I believe the site this came from was upper Ludlowville Formation, based on the fossils I found there. I was wondering what this small fossil is, because it has details on it that I don’t recognize. 69D82B04-FAE5-46A3-9C89-FEBD49389A91.thumb.jpeg.90e64c90aad7100ad8e936f25bf77bd0.jpeg9C4B7576-16BA-4E8D-BF28-D0245CE5134E.thumb.jpeg.c8074c0040951ee50d3c2a3f93a3f1f9.jpeg1F07099E-0D5C-423A-853C-A99BB5A29038.thumb.jpeg.466f17425da478051d00b4113e454d81.jpeg

Topics merged. One is enough. ;)

You can always bump the same topic by asking again in a reply. :)

That said, it looks more like arthropod material, to me.

I'm not sure there is enough showing to say what it may be, however.
