Pyrite Ammonite?

I know it’s probably pyrite but is the ammonite shape just a coincidence playing tricks on the eye, or could this actually be an ammonite?

Found by my daughter today on Charmouth beach, Dorset

Good question! Sure it has the suggestive shape of an ammonite. Try googling for pyritized/marcasitized ammonites of your area and see, what comes up.

Could very well be one. But that's more than likely marcasite than pyrite from that site.

So far only found the more commercial gold coloured ammonites, but I’ll keep searching, thanks!

Yes, I have seen these at Charmouth many times. 

There is an ammonite in the middle of there.

This is a pyratized ammonite from the Texas Cretaceous Atco formation. It looks similar to yours, so I would concur that yours is ammonite. Even neater than mine I dare say!

I'm not seeing the spiral one would expect from an ammonite no matter how hard I try. I'm not convinced this isn't purely geological.
