timhigg
I think this might be a sloth tooth from what I've seen in some books. I'm assuming they are the same things, but am focusing on the larger of the two. They were found on the beach near Jensen Florida. Just over 1.5 inches high. Thanks for any help. Are they big enough for giant ground sloth if they are sloth?
PODIGGER
I think your on the right track with a sloth ID. Here is a partial one from the Peace River, FL I found last year. Wait for a more experienced member to provide input to be sure. @Shellseeker, @Harry Pristis, @Bone Daddy
Shellseeker
We Have LOTS of different sloth fossils here in Florida. The big one is Eremotherium, 20 feet high. This is not an Eremotherium tooth. Usually the discussion is between Megalonyx Jeffersonii and Paramylodon Harlani. Here is a a lower jaw of Harlan's. I think both of your's are Jefferson Ground Sloth. Here is one 4 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
