Brazos Fossil Finder

Recommended Posts

This piece was found on the Brazos River, it is very light. Looks like spongy rock. Is this coral?

Looks like a piece of bone to me.
Not sure anything more can be said about it.

Maybe cancellous bone ?

If it was found in the lower Brazos, far more likely bone than coral.

A few marine fossils survive to the lower Brazos but are generally quite worn.

Also, it appears to be bone (cancellous as Rockwood mentioned) although the photos aren't super sharp.
